Statlander Retains, then Turns on allies
The September 24, 2025, episode of AEW Dynamite culminated in a hard-fought AEW Women’s World Championship match. Reigning champion Kris Statlander successfully defended her title against Mina Shirakawa.
Shirakawa focused her attack on statlander’s legs, attempting a leg submission that Statlander narrowly escaped. The challenger continued to target the champion’s lower body with strikes before attempting a figure-four leglock, which Statlander countered with a creative seatbelt pinning combination for the win.
An Unexpected Betrayal
The immediate aftermath of the match saw a surprising display of camaraderie, with Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, PAC, and Harley Cameron all congratulating Statlander. Though, this unity quickly dissolved. After a brief embrace with Yuta, statlander shockingly delivered a clothesline, turning on her allies.
Statlander further antagonized the group by evading a clothesline from Marina Shafir and flipping off Jon Moxley before leaving the ring.
Allin Challenges Moxley for WrestleDream
The escalating tension drew the attention of Darby Allin, who arrived wielding a flame thrower, forcing Moxley and the rest of the group to retreat. Allin then issued a direct challenge to Moxley: an “I Quit” match at AEW’s upcoming WrestleDream pay-per-view.
