Rescue of Vietnamese Fishermen in South Korea
Regarding the incident of a fishing boat capsized off the coast of Gunsan, South Korea on the morning of September 17, 2024, the Korean Coast Guard rescued 3 Vietnamese people. Immediately after receiving the notice from the Korean authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea requested the Korean authorities to rescue the Vietnamese crew members, and at the same time coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure the prescribed regimes and policies for the crew members.
To date, it has been determined that there are no other Vietnamese crew members besides these 3. Currently, all 3 are being treated in hospital, and their health condition is stable.
Support for Vietnamese Fishermen Before Storm No. 4 Soulik
Recently, the Government has issued many dispatches, of which on September 19, 2024, the Prime Minister signed dispatch No. 98/CD-TTg directing the focus on responding to tropical depressions that are likely to strengthen into storms and floods, focusing on implementing key tasks to promptly and effectively respond to storm No. 4, internationally named Soulik, which is making landfall.
Implementing the direction of the Government leaders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vietnamese representative agencies in China and some neighboring areas urgently worked with local authorities to notify and update information about storm Soulik and requested local authorities to support Vietnamese boats and fishermen operating at sea who could not return to the mainland in time to take shelter and avoid the storm.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also sent a diplomatic note to the diplomatic representative agencies of the countries in Hanoi to coordinate closely and promptly report back to the country to have necessary support measures in case Vietnamese fishermen or boats need urgent rescue.
Situation of Vietnamese Citizens in Israel/Lebanon/Iran
According to information from Vietnamese representative agencies in Egypt (also in Lebanon), Iran and Israel, the situation of Vietnamese citizens in these areas remains safe and stable.
Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the representative agencies in Egypt (also in Lebanon), Iran and Israel continue to closely coordinate with local authorities to closely monitor developments, proactively develop and deploy citizen protection plans, including plans to evacuate citizens from dangerous areas.
Vietnamese citizens in the above countries should regularly monitor information from local authorities, warnings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to respond promptly.
