Powell’s Family United Amid Grandson’s Leukemia Battle

Daryl powell, head coach of Wakefield Trinity, revealed his ‍family has remained strong following his grandson⁣ Clarke’s diagnosis of acute⁤ myeloid leukemia in January. The Wakefield Trinity club is actively ⁤raising money for​ the Candlelighters Trust,a Yorkshire-based charity offering crucial support to children battling‍ cancer and their families. This fundraising effort will be highlighted during Sunday’s home game against Leigh.

Powell described the past months as emotionally taxing, especially for his ⁢daughter Kegan and her husband Eamonn. ​He emphasized the unique challenges families face when a young child,just ⁤shy ‍of his frist birthday at ⁢diagnosis,undergoes such a serious⁣ health battle. Clarke has endured six months of⁤ continuous treatment, with⁢ Powell expressing immense gratitude for ‌the extraordinary care provided by Leeds General ​Infirmary’s oncology ‌ward.

The coach lauded his grandson’s bravery throughout the ‌ordeal. Despite the difficulties,‌ Clarke⁣ remains happy and smiling. Powell hopes his grandson will have no memory of​ this challenging period. The family⁢ is optimistic‍ about Clarke’s recovery journey.
