These incidents have occurred in ⁣recent months in the Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Nayarit areas,with​ victims lured through online dating platforms.

According to the ‍consulate, families of those kidnapped have⁣ been extorted for notable ‌amounts of money to ensure the safe return of their loved ones. The advisory emphasizes that this type of crime is not limited to a specific region within Mexico.

Travelers are‍ strongly advised to exercise caution when meeting individuals they’ve encountered online.
