Dave Mustaine Enters Studio to Record New Megadeth Album: Exciting Updates from the Band
MEGADETH Starts Work on New Album
MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine has begun writing and recording the band’s next studio album in the studio with producer Chris Rakestraw. He shared this news with members of MEGADETH’s Cyber Army fan club, stating he will be in the studio for the next six months. The band’s bassist, James LoMenzo, drummer Dirk Verbeuren, and new guitarist, Teemu Mäntysaari, are contributing song ideas from home, and they plan to work together in the studio later.
Chris Rakestraw has previously worked with MEGADETH on their last two albums: “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” (2022) and “Dystopia” (2016). Teemu Mäntysaari, who joined MEGADETH over a year ago, has been gathering riffs and ideas for the new album. He expressed excitement about collaborating with Mustaine and the rest of the band to shape the songs.
Mustaine has praised the change in the band’s dynamics since Mäntysaari’s arrival, feeling they are functioning as a cohesive unit once again. He highlighted the importance of working with musicians who share an understanding of metal music.
Mäntysaari stepped in as a guitarist when Kiko Loureiro decided to prioritize family commitments. Teemu has an extensive background in music, having played with bands like WINTERSUN and SMACKBOUND. Mustaine noted that Mäntysaari’s talent and enthusiasm bring a refreshing energy to the band.
This album marks an exciting chapter for MEGADETH, as the lineup works closely on songwriting. Mustaine believes this collaboration will enhance their musical output and lead to a successful new project. The anticipation for the new MEGADETH album is building as they enter this creative phase.
