David Beckham Knighted for Sports and Charity Contributions

David Beckham, the former England football captain and global icon, has received a knighthood for his services to sport and charity. The honor, bestowed on Friday, also recognized The Who’s Roger Daltrey and actor Gary Oldman.
Beckham, who played 115 times for England and starred for clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid, will now be addressed as “Sir David.” His wife, Victoria Beckham, formerly of the Spice Girls, will be known as Lady Beckham. The knighthood highlights Beckham’s notable role in sports and his charitable endeavors.
