Former england soccer captain David Beckham says he is “truly humbled” to be knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours list. the recognition comes after years of speculation and acknowledges his contributions to sports and charitable endeavors.
The Who’s Roger Daltrey and actor Gary Oldman also join the list of honorees. Actresses Elaine Paige and Anita Dobson, along with novelist Pat Barker and former Defense Secretary Penny mordaunt, will be made dames.

Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daley and Claudia Winkleman, along with darts stars Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, are set to receive MBEs.
Beckham, who received an OBE in 2003, expressed his gratitude: “Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honor,” he told PA news agency.
