David Byrne Announces ‘Who Is the Sky?’ New Solo Album
David Byrne, the former Talking Heads frontman, is set to release his first solo album as 2018. Titled Who Is The Sky?, the album will be available Sept.5 via Matador Records.
The lead single,”everybody laughs,” is out now,accompanied by a new video. The album features collaborations with St. Vincent,Hayley Williams of Paramore,Tom Skinner of The Smile,and Mauro Refosco.
Byrne described the inspiration behind “Everybody Laughs,” stating, “Everybody lives, dies, laughs, cries, sleeps and stares at the ceiling. Everybody’s wearing everybody else’s shoes… I tried to sing about these things that could be seen as negative in a way balanced by an uplifting feeling from the groove and the melody.”
Who Is The Sky? was produced by Kid Harpoon and arranged by Ghost Train Orchestra. The album is available for pre-order in various formats, including a limited edition vinyl.
