David Byrne Releases New Remix and Reunites With St. Vincent

David Byrne has released a new version of the track What Is the Reason For It? from his 2025 solo album, Who Is the Sky?. The reworked version, retitled ¿Cuál Es La Razón?, features Grammy Award-winning Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade.

The original version of the song featured Hayley Williams of Paramore. The new iteration is produced by Mexican Institute Of Sound and is currently available through digital outlets.

Collaborations and Live Performances

The release of the remix follows a performance at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, where Byrne reunited with frequent collaborator St. Vincent, also known as Annie Clark. During the event, the two artists appeared during each other’s respective sets.

Byrne joined Clark and her band to lead a performance of the Talking Heads song Wild Wild Life. Clark subsequently appeared on stage during Byrne’s set for a performance of the Talking Heads track Air.

Byrne and Clark have a history of joint projects, including the 2012 album Love This Giant. Clark also provided vocals across the album Who Is the Sky? and collaborated with Byrne on a 2023 cover of the Stevie Wonder song Chemical Love.

Who Is the Sky? Tour Expansion

Coinciding with the new music release, Byrne announced the addition of three tour dates in Mexico for September 2026. These shows will take place on the following dates:

  • September 4: Mexico City
  • September 8: Guadalajara
  • September 10: Monterrey

Tickets for these Mexico dates are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Local time via Ticketmaster.

Byrne is currently conducting the North American leg of the Who Is The Sky? tour, which included a two-night stand in St. Louis, Missouri, that concluded on April 29, 2026. The tour is scheduled to visit the United Kingdom and Europe during the summer of 2026, with further stops in South Korea, Japan, and Thailand.

The tour is slated to conclude on September 19, 2026, with a performance at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York.

Upcoming Literary Release

In addition to his musical activities, Byrne is set to release a new book on October 6, 2026, titled Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up.
