Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth made a surprise appearance at the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in Indio, California, on April 10, 2026. Roth joined singer Teddy Swims on the main stage for a high-energy performance of the classic hit Jump
.
The appearance was part of a stylized set designed by Swims to look like an apartment, featuring a bedroom, living room, and a front door. Swims used a doorbell sound effect to introduce three different collaborators throughout his set.
Before Roth’s arrival, Joe Jonas appeared to perform a rendition of the Jonas Brothers song When You Look Me In The Eyes
, followed by Vanessa Carlton, who performed her 2001 hit A Thousand Miles
.
Performance Details and Stage Presence
Roth entered the stage after the final doorbell rang, wearing a leather, bedazzled vest and skintight pants. Upon his arrival, Swims introduced him to the crowd as being from the best f—king band of all time, Van Halen!

The performance of Jump
was characterized by Roth’s signature showmanship, including spinning, strutting, and twirling the microphone stand during the guitar solo while utilizing the festival’s massive catwalk.
According to reporting from Rolling Stone, the performance was playful and slightly imperfect
, as Swims and Roth laughed off a moment where they missed the entrance to the second verse.
Swims beamed while the two sang the Van Halen classic “Jump” to each other, imperfectly and charmingly missing the entrance to the second verse and laughing it off. Roth was positively beaming as he stood on the catwalk in the middle of the thousands-strong crowd as the song hit its key-change crescendo, and he had every reason to celebrate: It was clear another generation had learned Van Halen’s biggest hit by osmosis, fist pumping and singing along to the song’s climax.
