David Micheluzzi Breaks World Record for Longest Putt
David Micheluzzi, an Australian golfer, has set a new world record with an astonishing putt. He achieved this feat during the DP World Tour’s Hero Challenge in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Micheluzzi made the putt from an impressive distance of 139 yards, exceeding the previous record of just under 134 yards. This challenge took place on the 7th hole of Yas Links, where over 65 players, including well-known golfers like Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, attempted the same shot but were unsuccessful.
The challenge was tough, as players had to make a putt from the fairway. However, Micheluzzi succeeded on his second attempt. He celebrated joyfully as he watched the ball roll into the hole, tossing his club into the air.
Fans reacted excitedly on social media. One user noted that this achievement might not happen again for a long time. Another expressed disbelief at the skill required to read a 139-yard putt.
Micheluzzi now joins other record-holders in the DP World Tour. For example, Thomas Detry holds the record for the fastest hole of golf after finishing a Par 5 in just one minute and 29.62 seconds.
Currently, Micheluzzi is competing in the Australian Open. After Day 3, he is tied for 33rd place with a score of five under par, trailing the leaders by nine strokes.
