Davina McCall‘s Health Update: Brain Surgery for Rare Tumor

Davina McCall is recovering in hospital after brain surgery. The 57-year-old TV presenter underwent the procedure for a benign brain tumor called a colloid cyst, which is very rare, affecting three in a million people. McCall’s health issue was discovered during a health check-up related to her menopause advocacy efforts.

Her partner, Michael Douglas, provided updates on her condition via Instagram. He stated, “Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook.” McCall is currently resting in ICU as a precaution and feels “utterly exhausted” but is in good spirits.

In her Instagram video, McCall disclosed her diagnosis. She explained that after getting a health scan, she learned of the tumor’s presence. McCall noted it was a significant 14mm wide and emphasized the importance of removing it to prevent further complications.

She underwent a craniotomy, where a part of the skull is temporarily removed. McCall indicated she would be in the hospital for about nine days and plans to take a break from social media during her recovery. She has confidence in her surgical team and reassured her followers not to worry.

Douglas mentioned that she would be “off grid for a bit” and would appreciate all the supportive messages from fans. He promised to provide occasional updates on her recovery.

McCall has been a strong advocate for women’s health issues, producing various documentaries about menopause and women’s health. She became an MBE last year for her contributions to broadcasting and has published a book titled Menopausing: The Positive Roadmap To Your Second Spring.

McCall has openly discussed her struggles with perimenopausal symptoms, which she compared to her experiences with drug addiction in her youth. She has been open about using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to combat symptoms and shared the health benefits she has experienced.

Overall, McCall has had a long and illustrious career as a TV host, known for shows like Big Brother and My Mum, Your Dad. She also campaigns for health awareness and has participated in fundraising events for cancer research in memory of her late sister.
