Davina McCall’s Recovery: Overcoming Exhaustion After Brain Tumor Surgery
Davina McCall‘s Health Update
Davina McCall, a 57-year-old TV presenter, recently underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumor called a colloid cyst. This tumor was discovered after she received a health check-up as part of her efforts to promote menopause awareness.
Her partner, Michael Douglas, shared an update on her condition through an Instagram post. He stated that the surgery was successful and “textbook.” Currently, McCall is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is feeling extremely tired.
A few months ago, McCall discussed her diagnosis in an Instagram video. She explained that she thought she would pass a health scan, but the scan revealed the rare tumor, found in only three out of a million people. After consulting various neurosurgeons, she decided surgery was necessary to remove the tumor, which measures 14mm wide.
McCall mentioned that if the tumor grows, it may lead to serious issues, so it needed to be removed. She underwent a craniotomy, a procedure that involves temporarily removing part of the skull. She feels optimistic and trusts her surgeon and their team. After about nine days in the hospital, she plans to go home but will take a break from her phone.
Douglas communicated that while McCall will be “off grid” during her recovery, she is in good condition and receiving excellent care. He will provide updates for her followers and encouraged them to send their support.
McCall has a strong history of advocating for women’s health. Last year, she received an MBE for her broadcasting contributions and released the book Menopausing: The Positive Roadmap To Your Second Spring, aiming to eliminate misinformation about menopause. She also produced a documentary on menopause and highlighted her personal experiences with health challenges related to it.
Through her advocacy, McCall has raised awareness and funds for cancer research, particularly in memory of her sister, Caroline Baday, who lost her life to lung cancer in 2012.
