A Stellar Nursery Revealed
The second image released as part of The atlantic’s 2025 Space telescope Advent Calendar features the reflection nebula GN 04.32.8, a vibrant region within the Taurus Molecular Cloud.
located approximately 480 light-years from Earth, the Taurus Molecular Cloud is a stellar nursery where new stars are born. The image showcases enormous clouds of dust enveloping a group of young, dynamically active stars, illuminated by their own radiant light.
Protostar with a protoplanetary Disk
A newly formed protostar, partially obscured by a protoplanetary disk, is visible as a small orange blob slightly to the right of the image’s center. This disk obstructs some of the protostar’s light, a phenomenon similar to the subject featured in the advent calendar’s frist image on December 1st.
