DAZN and Pluto TV have launched a dedicated free-to-air handball channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, marking an expansion of their strategic partnership in the DACH region. The channel, named DAZN Handball x Pluto TV, went live on August 21, 2024, offering more than 50 live matches per season exclusively on Pluto TV at no cost to viewers.
The new channel features high-quality live sports coverage, with a focus on top-tier European handball competitions. Programming includes matches from the EHF Champions League and EHF European League for both men and women, as well as a selection of games from the EHF catalogue. Notable men’s EHF Champions League fixtures will involve German clubs Füchse Berlin and SC Magdeburg.
DAZN Handball x Pluto TV will air one live match from each round of the EHF Champions League as a free-TV exclusive, beginning in mid-September 2024. The coverage extends to the final matches of both the men’s and women’s European competitions, featuring teams such as THW Kiel, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, Paris Saint-Germain, and FC Barcelona, the reigning Champions League winners.
The women’s EHF Champions League and European League are also included in the broadcast schedule, with live coverage of semifinals and finals across all three tournaments. Additional content comprises highlights and recorded matches involving German teams drawn from the EHF catalogue.
This launch builds on the existing collaboration between DAZN and Pluto TV, which previously introduced DAZN’s darts and women’s sports channels on the Pluto TV platform. The partnership expansion follows DAZN’s recent efforts to strengthen its presence in Switzerland, where it added Serie A and Ligue 1 to its offering, and its cooperation with the German free-TV channel DF1.
Handball remains one of the most popular televised sports in Germany, and the DAZN Handball x Pluto TV channel represents the first exclusive free-to-air handball service in the DACH region. By making high-profile handball competitions widely accessible without subscription fees, the initiative aims to broaden the sport’s audience and deepen fan engagement across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
