SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Kings guard De’Aaron Fox had a standout performance in the 121-117 victory over the Utah Jazz. He scored 49 points, continuing his impressive streak after a 60-point game the previous night.
Fox started strong, making every shot in the first quarter. He mixed his scoring with aggressive drives and successful 3-pointers, indicating he was in top form.
In two games, Fox scored a total of 109 points, becoming the second player in Sacramento history to reach over 100 points in two games. Only DeMarcus Cousins previously accomplished this feat in 2016. Fox also joined Kobe Bryant and Wilt Chamberlain as one of only three players in NBA history to achieve this in back-to-back games.
Kings coach Mike Brown expressed pride in Fox’s performance, especially given the team’s missing key players. “He’s feeling that,” Brown said. “Nobody can stop him from getting to his spots.”
Fox played with a heavier load as the team competed without DeMar DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis, and Malik Monk. Brown noted that Fox understood the need to step up without any additional prompting.
Fox focused on his scoring tactics, emphasizing the importance of getting to the rim. He shot 16-of-30 from the floor and 14-of-16 from the free throw line against the Jazz. In the previous game against the Timberwolves, he showcased his skills again with 22-of-35 shooting, including six 3-pointers.
“Getting downhill and touching the paint has worked wonders,” Fox said. “It allows me to get to the rim, draw fouls, and create for teammates.”
Fox’s exceptional play continues to elevate the Kings’ performance and excite fans, showcasing his talent and determination on the court.
