Another youth who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode died due to severe burns on Sunday morning. Ratheesh (32) died yesterday at Nileswaram Chayoth Kinanoor. Ratheesh suffered more than 70% burns. The youth, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kannur, also died on Saturday. Choyangode Kinavoor Sandeep died on Saturday evening after suffering over 40% burns.

When firecrackers exploded during Moovalamkuzhi Chamundi Theiyat’s departure from Vellatam, sparks fell into the building where the firecrackers were kept and the whole thing exploded. The firecrackers were stored in a tin-floored building adjacent to the temple wall. Near this, people, including women and children, gathered to see Theyam. Including them, more than 150 people were injured in the accident.
At the same time, the district court voluntarily filed a case against three of the defendants arrested in connection with the incident and canceled the bail sentence. The suspension of the District Court of Appeal was overturned by the verdict of the Hozdurg Court. The accused’s bail was cancelled. The ordinance states that pretrial detainees should not be released unless they have been released from prison. District Sessions Judge Sanu S. Panicker issued the verdict. It was also ordered to send a notice to those who appeared in court. The district court took a rare action, taking the case on its own motion.
Hozdurg magistrate Baludinesh on Friday granted bail to the first and second accused in the case, temple committee presidents PK Chandrasekaran and KT Bharathan, and the seventh accused, P. Rajesh, who set off the firecrackers. This was with a condition that included two sureties.
