Myanmar Army Launches Air Attack in Lashio Town
Myanmar military aircraft launched an air attack in Lashio City, Shan State, in the east of the country on September 27th.
This comes shortly after Myanmar’s military government invited armed opposition groups to join talks and end their fight to bring peace back to the country on September 26.
The army has faced several setbacks in its battles with ethnic armed groups and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in recent months.
In August, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance army (MNDAA) captured the city of Lashio, which has a population of around 150,000 people and is the largest city under opposition control since 1962.

Local residents said they heard two explosions. Meanwhile, a diplomatic official in Yangon said there was no serious prospect of reconciliation so far over the Myanmar military government’s offer.
