Tragic Incident: American Pitbull Mauls 67-Year-Old Woman to Death
A devastating incident occurred in Pathum Thani province, Thailand, where a 67-year-old woman, Ms. Daeng Thamthanta, was fatally mauled by an American Pitbull. The dog’s owner, Mrs. Kiatkanok, revealed that the dog had recently started showing aggressive behavior and had bitten several people, including her own daughter.
Investigation and Scene Description
Lieutenant Colonel Krittha Prathumkaew, Detective Inspector of Sam Khok Police Station, was informed of the incident at 3:30 p.m. on September 23, 2024. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim’s body in a house in Village No. 1, Chiang Rak Noi Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province. The body had severe dog bite marks, including a large lacerated wound on the right leg.
Owner’s Statement and History of the Dog’s Aggression
Mrs. Kiatkanok, the dog’s owner, stated that the dog, named “Poi Kai,” had been sleeping next to her bed but had recently started showing aggressive behavior. She revealed that the dog had bitten her uncle and daughter before, and she was concerned about its behavior. She also mentioned that she had been releasing the dog in the morning and evening, which might have contributed to the incident.

Owner’s Plea for Help and Investigation
Mrs. Kiatkanok pleaded with the authorities to take responsibility for the dog, as she could no longer care for it. She mentioned that she had seven dogs and wanted to keep only the pitbulls, which her eldest daughter had raised. The police recorded the scene as evidence and took the dog’s owner in for questioning. The body was sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Sciences.
