Tragedy Strikes in Eastern Chad: 15 Lives Lost Due to Heavy Rain

Last night, a devastating incident occurred in the Ouaddai region of eastern Chad, resulting in the loss of 14 students and their teacher due to heavy rain, as announced by local authorities.

According to the authorities, the heavy rain caused a lightning strike on a school, claiming the lives of 15 people and injuring several others.

The United Nations had previously issued a warning regarding the impact of “heavy rain and severe flooding” in the region, highlighting that Chad is the most affected country, with over 24,000 people affected by the floods in just a few weeks.

The United Nations has called for immediate action and adequate funding to address the “climate crisis” and mitigate its effects on vulnerable communities.
