Deadly Rampage Ends in Life Behind Bars: Houston Gang Member Sentenced for Brutal Quintuple Murder
Gang Member Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Five People in Houston
Christian Cavazos, a 22-year-old documented gang member, has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a series of murders that took place in Houston in 2019.
Cavazos pleaded guilty to the murders after prosecutors presented evidence that some of the crimes were videotaped and posted on social media platforms.
One of the victims, Ryan McGowan, was shot and killed in the back seat of a car in the 11300 block of Windfern in northwest Harris County in September 2019. His mother, Shamilva McGowan, spoke out after the sentencing, saying “He hunted my son like an animal.”
McGowan was one of three mothers of Cavazos’ victims who appeared during the sentencing. Cavazos’ gang, known as 10K, has been under investigation by federal and local authorities for years. The gang has been linked to several assaults and murders in and around Harris County, and a search of Cavazos’ home turned up high-powered rifles, handguns, drugs, and over $20,000 in cash.
