Death Stranding Director’s Cut: A Surprise Arrival on Xbox and Amazon Luna!
The director’s cut of Death Stranding has made an unexpected official debut on Xbox Series X/S consoles and Amazon Luma after developer Kojima Productions acquired the IP. This surprise release celebrates the game’s 5th anniversary and costs £18.
The director’s cut of Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s first title after leaving Konami. Steam / Epic Games Store | Game * Spark”>505 Games, the publisher of Death Stranding, has announced that the game is available at a 50% discount on Steam and Epic on Xbox consoles.
Kojima Productions now fully owns Death Stranding’s IP, increasing the likelihood that the game will be available on more platforms in the future.
In a press release, Hideo Kojima said he was grateful to fans and the Xbox community for their patience as the game was released on consoles. He also assured fans that Death Stranding will continue to connect more players globally.

Game publisher 505 Games has announced that Death Stranding, which first launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2019, will celebrate its fifth anniversary on November 8. However, the director’s cut of the game was released on PlayStation 5 in 2021 before coming to PC consoles in early 2022.

Gameplay involves players making deliveries and delivering goods to various locations. Norman Reedus plays Sam Bridges, a porter whose job is to connect isolated settlements to the ‘Chiral Network’ in order to reform America. During the delivery journey, players will face a variety of challenges, including navigating difficult terrain, fighting supernatural enemies, and fighting a powerful adversary named Hicks (Troy Baker).
Meanwhile, Kojima is also working on the game’s sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is scheduled for an official release in 2025. The sequel will be released exclusively for PS5, but this may vary. Please change before official release.
Kojima is best known for his involvement in the Metal Gear franchise. However, he parted ways with Konami following a fallout between the two parties. Konami later released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 and the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
