Debunking the Myth: No Official Warning Issued on Polluted Water, Says State Information Service
Debunking the Rumors: Safety of Drinking Water in Egypt
The Cabinet Media Center has issued a statement denying the validity of audio messages circulating on WhatsApp, claiming that the water agency has issued a warning notice not to use water for drinking purposes due to contamination by a toxic microorganism.
The media center contacted the holding company for drinking water and wastewater, who denied the news, stating that there is no intention of issuing a warning notice not to use the water for drinking purposes. The voice messages being circulated are baseless, and no warning leaflet has been issued by any competent authority in this regard.
Drinking water in all governorates of the republic is completely safe and healthy, free of any harmful germs or contaminants, and conforms to standard standards and specifications. The water is monitored round the clock by the holding company’s laboratory and quality system for drinking water and wastewater, as well as the supervisory role of the Water Control Authority and the Ministry of Health and Population.
The Cabinet Media Center urges citizens not to be led by this false information and to obtain information from official sources. The center also appeals to users of various media outlets and social networking sites to ensure accuracy and objectivity in news reporting and to contact the relevant authorities to verify information before publishing.
The holding company for drinking water and wastewater has also denied the validity of the publication regarding the poor quality of drinking water and the need to refrain from drinking it.
