Shares of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, a defense public sector undertaking (PSU), experienced a significant drop in trading Friday. The stock price fell 6.44% to Rs 3,507.8 per share. Earlier in the day, the stock hit a low of Rs 3,450, representing an 8% decrease.
The sharp decline in the Mazagon Dock share price followed the release of the company’s financial results for the March quarter. Investors reacted negatively to the reported figures.
The company’s net profit for the quarter ending in March fell by 50.93%,totaling Rs 325.29 crore. This is compared to Rs 662.97 crore in the same quarter the previous year. Though, sales saw a slight increase of 2.28%, reaching Rs 3,174.41 crore, up from Rs 3,103.65 crore during the same period in 2024. The Mazagon Dock order book remains strong.
Despite the quarterly downturn, mazagon Dock Shipbuilders reported strong full-year results. Net profit for the year ending in March rose by 24.60% to Rs 2,413.51 crore, compared to Rs 1,936.97 crore the previous year. Sales also increased by 20.76%, reaching Rs 11,431.88 crore, up from Rs 9,466.58 crore in 2024.The company highlighted that it achieved its highest-ever yearly revenue from operations, totaling rs 11,431.88 crore, with a net profit of Rs 2,324.88 crore.
As of the March quarter, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders’ total order book stood at Rs 32,260 crore.
Mazagon Dock shipbuilders distributed a first interim dividend for the fiscal year 2024-25 of Rs 467.72 crore,which is Rs 23.19 per share. The company also paid a second interim dividend of Rs 3 per share, amounting to Rs 121.02 crore.
