What Happened
On August 22, 2024, Deftones launched their fall tour at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Chino moreno-led band debuted three new songs from their forthcoming album, Private Music: “My Mind is a Mountain,” “Infinite Source,” and “milk of the Madonna.” These songs where first previewed during an audience-free livestream the day prior.
The performance also included a rare rendition of “Entombed” from their 2012 album, koi No Yoko, wich hadn’t been played live since 2017. Deftones dedicated this song to Brent Hinds, the late guitarist of Mastodon, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident in Atlanta earlier this week.
During the encore, the band played “Engine No. 9” from their 1995 debut album,Adrenaline, for the first time in 2024.
Honoring Brent Hinds
The dedication of “Entombed” to Brent Hinds underscored the close relationship between Deftones and Mastodon.
