Reflecting on His Time at Mediaset
David Cantero expressed that he departs Mediaset “tranquilo y agradecido” (“calm and grateful”). “Han sido 15 años extraordinarios y dejo atrás infinidad de buenos recuerdos, de buenos momentos, amigos y compañeros” (“These have been 15 extraordinary years and I leave behind countless good memories, good times, friends and colleagues”).
He further emphasized, “Estas son situaciones emotivas y se viven con mucha intensidad, pero yo lo llevo con calma. He aprendido muchísimo en Informativos Telecinco, en la cadena que acaba de cumplir 35 años, y me alegra formar parte de su historia. Me he ido, pero ahí estará mi legado” (“These are emotional situations and are lived with great intensity, but I take it calmly.I have learned a lot at Informativos Telecinco, at the network that has just turned 35, and I am glad to be part of it’s history.I have left, but my legacy will be there“).

The presenter clarified that it was “una separación de mutuo acuerdo, amistosa y acordada. Durilla, pero amable” (“a separation by mutual agreement, friendly and agreed upon. tough, but amicable”) and stressed, “no me he jubilado, no tengo eso en mente de momento y no está en mis planes inmediatos, como he leído por ahí. Sencillamente he entrado en una nueva etapa de mi vida” (“I have not retired, I don’t have that in mind at the moment and it is not in my immediate plans, as I have read around. I have simply entered a new stage of my life”).
Cantero reflected, “las cosas cambian.Cambian las circunstancias, las dinámicas empresariales y personales. La tele no para de cambiar y a veces hay que tomar este tipo de decisiones. Me voy dejando atrás muchísimo cariño, mucho respeto, infinidad de experiencias. Ha sido un tiempo feliz y emocionante. Dejo atrás un buen pedazo de mi vida” (“Things change. Circumstances, business and personal dynamics change. Television never stops changing and sometiems you have to make these kinds of decisions. I leave behind a lot of affection, a lot of respect, countless experiences. It has been a happy and exciting time.I leave behind a good piece of my life“).

Cantero also dedicated heartfelt words to his “queridísima María casado” (“dearest María Casado”), whom he “dejo un poquito viuda y a la que seguiré viendo cada fin de semana allí con su extraordinaria simpatía, con su ternura y con su absoluta profesionalidad. La voy a echar muchísimo de menos” (“I leave a little widowed and whom I will continue to see every weekend there with her extraordinary sympathy, with her tenderness and with her absolute professionalism.I am going to miss her very much”).
