DeMarcus Cousins Ejected After Courtside Altercation in Puerto Rico

former NBA All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins was ejected from a professional basketball game in Puerto Rico on Monday ⁢after a heated confrontation⁢ with‍ a fan. Cousins,‍ 34, now plays for the Mets de Guaynabo in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league.

The incident ⁢occurred ⁤during a game against Vaqueros de Bayamon. Video footage shows a fan making obscene gestures toward Cousins, who responded in kind before players and staff intervened.

As Cousins exited the court following his ejection,fans near the tunnel appeared to throw drinks at him.⁤ Security‍ personnel restrained⁣ Cousins as⁢ he attempted to confront the crowd.

It remains unclear whether the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league will impose further disciplinary action⁣ against the veteran NBA ⁣center.

Cousins last played in the NBA during the 2021-22⁢ season, splitting⁤ time with the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets. Before his time in Puerto Rico, he also played professionally ‍in⁣ Taiwan and Mongolia. The Sacramento Kings selected Cousins as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Throughout his 11-year⁢ NBA⁣ career,⁢ Cousins averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds, earning four All-Star selections. Throughout his NBA career, DeMarcus Cousins was known for accumulating technical fouls and occasional altercations. In February 2014, the NBA suspended Cousins for one game after he punched Patrick Beverley in the stomach ‍during a game against the Houston Rockets.
