These individuals‍ were reportedly terrorized⁤ following ⁣criticism of the government’s handling of disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Pigai emphasized the need to address these alleged acts of terror seriously, utilizing ⁢applicable legal mechanisms.

“Regarding the widespread terror that befell influencers, I ask the police‌ to investigate it thoroughly so ‍that we know the motive and who the⁢ perpetrators​ are,” Pigai stated in a written ‌statement on Sunday (January 4, 2026).

Pigai also acknowledged the misuse of freedom of opinion for manipulative purposes, including excessive conclusions and personal attacks.⁤ He urged the public to remain rational and objective when consuming information from social media.

Regarding‍ disaster management in Sumatra, Pigai affirmed the government’s serious, ⁢systematic, and planned approach to addressing floods and landslides.

The government is ​implementing ⁤a ⁢two-stage response to the disaster.
