End of an Era: Demolition Begins on Adrian‘s Historic Bixby Hospital
Adrian, MI – After serving the Adrian community for over six decades, the iconic Bixby Hospital is being demolished. The process began Thursday, marking the end of an era for the building that stood at 818 Riverside Avenue sence 1957.
ProMedica, the hospital’s operator, shifted services to the ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital in 2020.
“We know the former Bixby Hospital carries countless memories for people all across our community,” said Dr. Julie Yaroch, president of ProMedica Hickman Hospital. “For 63 years, it was the place where community members were welcomed into the world, where life-saving care was delivered, and where families and friends said final farewells to loved ones. it was also a place where generations of hospital staff demonstrated their tireless commitment to patients and formed lasting bonds. As we say goodbye to this building to pave the way for redevelopment, we keep those memories in mind.”
The demolition is expected to be completed by the end of april 2025.
