Dengue Alert: Ludhiana Health Teams Discover Breeding Grounds in Residential Society
Dengue Breeding Grounds Found in Ludhiana Residential Society
Ludhiana civil surgeon Dr. Pardeep Mohindra has contacted the local district administration to address a dengue issue at Omaxe apartments on Pakhowal Road. During an inspection, health officials discovered three locations harboring larvae of the Aedes mosquito, the primary carrier of dengue.
The findings included:
- Larvae in a swimming pool that contained around half a foot of stagnant water.
- Larvae in the air cooler located in the security guard’s room.
- Larvae in the fountain basin.
Dr. Sheetal Narang, the district epidemiologist, confirmed that these discoveries prompted the inspection after regular reports of dengue cases from the residential society. Dr. Mohindra’s letter highlights the connection between the water accumulation and the rise in dengue cases, stating that multiple larvae were found in the swimming pool, cooler, and fountain.
This year, Ludhiana has reported 423 dengue cases, with 253 occurring in urban areas and 170 in rural areas. Additionally, there are 998 suspected cases of the disease.
Dr. Mohindra has not yet received a response from the district administration regarding the actions to be taken.
