DHAKA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) — Health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed seven more deaths from dengue fever in the 24 hours to Wednesday morning, bringing the number of deaths due to the disease in the country this year to 264.
On Wednesday (October 23), the total number of confirmed dengue fever cases in Bangladesh stood at 53,196.
Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. This results in acute illnesses and symptoms such as headache, high fever, fatigue and severe muscle and joint pain. Swollen lymph nodes, vomiting and a rash on the skin.
