Denis Villeneuve, the director behind the critically acclaimed “Dune” and “Blade Runner 2049,” will helm the next James Bond movie, Amazon MGM Studios announced Thursday. The move signals a new era for the iconic spy franchise, with Amazon now holding creative control.
Villeneuve, a self-proclaimed “die-hard Bond fan,” expressed his deep connection to the series. He cited watching Sean Connery as 007 in “Dr.No” as some of his earliest movie memories.
“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007,” Villeneuve said. “I grew up watching james Bond films with my father… To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for manny new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting and a huge honor.”
