Stat Attack
- Denmark have drawn 1-1 in each of their two previous meetings against Sweden at UEFA Women’s Euro (D2), which at group stage in 2005 and 2013 editions.
- Sweden are looking to claim their first victory over Denmark at the finals of this competition.
- All four goals in the two previous meetings between Denmark and Sweden at the finals came in the opening 31 minutes.
- Denmark lost twice to Sweden earlier this year in the Women’s Nations League by an aggregate score of 8-2 (L2).
- Blackstenius has scored four goals in Sweden’s last two matches (W2).
Prediction
Having again found themselves in a difficult group just like in 2022, Denmark ideally need to start with a win or draw because a defeat would leave them at risk heading into a crunch second group game against Germany.
One clean sheet across seven games in 2025 so far however highlights vulnerability in their defence especially after two defeats to Sweden in that run, so a tighter defensive effort but equally clinical attack will be needed if they’re to put some points on the board early.
Sweden meanwhile are packed with quality and depth plus an in-form Blackstenius and if they score first like in their Nations League clashes, I can’t see them losing this.
Denmark though will try and mount a decent fight but I can’t see Sweden losing this if they’re at their best.
Prediction: Denmark 1-2 Sweden
