The field narrows until the final two drivers compete for the $1 million prize at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “Michigan marked the 1st of 3 seeding races for the in-Season Tournament, beginning at Atlanta. Seeding is based off of a drivers best finish in the 3 races,” NASCAR Insights saeid.
Even though there is no traditional points leader at this stage, Hamlin’s Michigan victory makes him an early favorite in the in-Season Challenge.

Hamlin said his Michigan festivity included a new twist on his catchphrase. He had planned a burnout, but had to cut it short due to low fuel. embracing his role as NASCAR’s villain, Hamlin said he enjoys the energy from booing fans.
“It’s a lot of fun for me. I love making people feel a certain way. Positive or negative,I do not care,” Hamlin said. “All the fans that I’ve been face to face with have been very respectful. What they say outside on the other side of the fence, free rein. Do whatever you want to do, say whatever you want to say. They’ve been very respectful in the small arena.”
Hamlin added that he will continue to taunt the crowd until the boos turn to cheers, emphasizing the importance of celebrating wins in NASCAR’s competitive landscape. His win at Michigan positions him as a primary_keyword contender in the In-Season Challenge.
