Denver Men’s Tennis: BYU & Air Force Matches This Weekend | Live Updates

February 25, 2026 Ahmed Hassan - World News Editor News

DENVER – The University of Denver men’s tennis team is preparing for a pair of matches in Colorado, including a home contest at the Denver Tennis Park, as it continues its season. The Pioneers (5-3, 0-0 Summit League) will face Brigham Young University on February 27th and then travel to the United States Air Force Academy on March 1st.

Friday’s match against BYU, ranked 57th nationally, is scheduled for 12:00 PM Mountain Time and represents the last home appearance for the Pioneers until April. Admission and parking at the Denver Tennis Park are free to the public.

The team is coming off a challenging four-match road trip that included a neutral-site victory over DePaul University (5-2) on February 21st and a narrow defeat to Northwestern University (4-3) on February 22nd. The DePaul win saw senior Raffaello Papajcik secure the decisive point at the number one singles position after a hard-fought three-set match. The Northwestern contest was equally competitive, with freshman Aaron Beduhn nearly completing a comeback victory before falling in the third set.

The series history with BYU is lengthy, and competitive. Denver currently holds an 8-13 record against the Cougars, but has won the last two encounters, including a 4-1 victory at BYU last season. BYU’s last visit to Denver was on February 29, 2020, resulting in a 4-3 Denver win. The two programs have consistently met annually from 2001 through 2020.

Denver’s record against Air Force is significantly more favorable. The Pioneers lead the head-to-head series 21-4, having played at least once each season for the past nine years. Their most recent match, held in Denver on January 18, 2025, resulted in a 6-1 victory for Denver. The Pioneers also secured a 5-2 win at the Air Force Academy on March 16, 2024.

Following the match at Air Force, the Pioneers will continue their road trip with contests against New Mexico and Northern Arizona on March 6th and March 7th, respectively. This extended period away from home will continue until April.

The University of Denver men’s tennis team recently earned a sweep of the Summit League weekly awards on Tuesday, February 24th. Samuel Rovai was named Peak Performer of the Week, while Aaron Beduhn and Raffaello Papajcik were recognized as the Doubles Peak Team of the Week. This recognition follows the team’s successful defense of its Summit League championship in 2024-2025, securing their eighth overall league title with a 4-0 sweep of their opponent.

The team’s performance this season reflects a consistent level of competition and success within the Summit League. The upcoming matches against BYU and Air Force will provide further opportunities to test their skills and build momentum as they navigate a challenging schedule. The Pioneers’ ability to secure wins on the road, as demonstrated by their victory over DePaul, will be crucial as they embark on this extended stretch away from Denver.

The availability of live stream and scoring information for the February 27th match against BYU has been provided, allowing fans to follow the action remotely. Links to the live stream (web.track.tennis) and live scoring (ioncourt.com) are available for those unable to attend in person.
