Denzel Washington: Tired of Movies? Reasons Explained
Denzel Washington: ”I’m Tired of Movies”
Denzel Washington,a name synonymous with cinematic excellence, has made a surprising confession: he’s over watching movies. In a recent interview with GQ, the 70-year-old actor, known for his powerful performances and history-making career, revealed a surprising disinterest in the very medium that made him a star.
During a conversation alongside Spike Lee, his director for the upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest, and co-star A$AP rocky, washington didn’t mince words. When A$AP Rocky playfully referenced Lee’s iconic dolly shots, Washington responded, “I don’t watch movies, man. I really don’t.”
His statement, initially met with laughter from Lee and Rocky, was no joke. washington doubled down, stating, “I’m just being honest with you. I don’t watch movies, man. I don’t go to the movies, I don’t watch movies.” When asked if his disinterest stemmed from being an actor and filmmaker himself, Washington admitted, “Probably. I’m tired of movies.”
This isn’t the first time Washington has offered a candid viewpoint on Hollywood. During the press run for Highest 2 lowest, he also expressed a lack of concern for industry accolades, even downplaying his own Oscar wins.
“I don’t do it for Oscars. I really don’t care about that kind of stuff,” he told Jake’s Takes. “there are times I won and shouldn’t have won… and didn’t win and should’ve won. Man gives the award, God gives the reward.”
He even joked about his two academy Awards for Training Day and Glory, saying, “People ask, ‘Where do you keep it?’ I say, ‘Next to the other one.’ I’m not bragging,I’m just telling you how I feel. On my last day, they won’t do me a bit of good!”
While Washington may be nonchalant about awards and even the act
