Deputies Respond to Medical Emergency on New Walkertown Road

A 16-year-old boy and his dog were fatally shot Saturday morning at a residence in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Deputies were dispatched to the 4700 block of New Walkertown Road (U.S. 311) just before 6 a.m. On May 2, 2026, to assist emergency medical services. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the teenager and his dog had been gunned down.

Both the boy and the animal were pronounced dead at the scene, according to reporting from the Charlotte Observer.

Sheriff Condemns Attack

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough issued a statement describing the killing as a devastating act that challenged his view of societal values.

The sheriff expressed profound anguish over the timing and nature of the violence, noting that the victims were killed in the early hours of the morning.

When a 16-year-old child and his pet can be gunned down in the quiet of the morning hours, it causes me to question our sense of morality and brings true anguish.

Kimbrough characterized the perpetrator as a monster and vowed that the agency would spare no effort in locating the suspect.

Make no mistake about it, there is a monster among us, and the FCSO will use all available resources to ensure this monster is captured.

Ongoing Investigation

The shooter fled the scene and remains at large. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is currently leading the investigation into the shooting.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the 16-year-old victim or a motive for the attack.
