Dermot Bannon Reveals Life-Changing Shift After Health Scare
Architect Dermot Bannon Finds New Viewpoint After Health Scare
Dublin, Ireland – Renowned architect and television personality Dermot Bannon, best known for his hit show “Room to Improve,” is opening up about a terrifying health scare that has led to a profound shift in his priorities.
Last summer, while on a family vacation in Portugal, Bannon experienced excruciating pain after a day at a water park with his sons. Initially diagnosed with a lung infection, the pain persisted, leading to a more serious discovery: a pulmonary embolism, a possibly life-threatening blood clot that had traveled from his leg to his lungs.”It was the full-stop last summer,” Bannon shared, reflecting on the experience. “I realized I could have been gone. And so, what am I going to do with the rest of my time?”
The near-fatal experience served as a wake-up call for the busy architect. Bannon admitted to often feeling pressured to say “yes” to everything, attending events and commitments even when it strained his time and energy.
“People-pleasing is absolutely exhausting,” he confessed. “It’s like bad calories. And so that is kind of a weight lifted off my shoulders – not having those expectations of myself.”
Bannon’s wife, Louise, whom he married in 2002, had previously expressed concern about his tendency to overcommit.
This newfound perspective has led to a positive shift in Bannon’s life. He is now more selective about his commitments, focusing on projects and events that truly align with his values and passions.
Bannon’s experience serves as a powerful reminder to us all about the importance of self-care and setting healthy boundaries. Sometiems,it takes a life-altering event to help us realise what truly matters.
