Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy has postponed the remaining dates of his US tour after an infection left his vocal cords very swollen. The 34-year-old artist, who was scheduled to perform in Atlanta, Georgia, shared an update on Instagram explaining that he must rest his voice immediately to avoid permanent injury.
Vocal Cord Infection Forces Tour Postponement
Kennedy consulted a medical specialist in Atlanta where doctors confirmed that his lingering laryngitis had not cleared. Despite spending an entire week on vocal rest, the infection has kept his vocal cords very swollen, leaving him unable to perform live without risking long-lasting damage.
I can’t sing right now, and I wouldn’t be able to make it through a show, and if I did force myself to carry on without healing fully, I’d just end up doing real long-lasting damage.

Remaining Show Dates and Ticket Holder Guidance
The cancellation affects five upcoming performances across the United States. Ticket holders for the affected concerts in Atlanta, Nashville, Austin, Irving, and Bellevue have been advised to retain their tickets while organizers arrange rescheduled dates.
Kennedy expressed regret over disrupting fans’ travel plans and hotel bookings. He emphasized his intention to honor all tickets once he has fully recovered, noting that he takes great pride in keeping his word to supporters.
Please hold on to your tickets, I take great pride in keeping my word, and these shows will happen, just not right now.

Chart Success and Prior Tour Highlights
The health setback arrives during a milestone year for the musician.
Reflecting on the interrupted run, Kennedy noted that the current outing had been his favorite tour to date. He expressed surprise and gratitude at the large crowds that turned out for each performance.
For some reason with this tour, more than others, I was terrified we wouldn’t have big crowds, and so I was blown away every night when I walked out to so many people.
