Mauritania’s Ministry of Education to Contract Retired Teachers
The Ministry of Education and Educational System Reform in Mauritania has announced a plan to contract with retired teachers to address the shortage of French teachers in secondary education.
Eligible categories for the contract include secondary and basic education inspectors, as well as preparatory and secondary education teachers, and teachers specializing in the French language who have previously taught in secondary education.
The ministry will distribute contract retirees according to the specific needs of each state, with allocated seats including 10 in Hodh al-Gharbi province, 4 in Hodh al-Gharbi province, and 10 in Assaba province.
Additional seats have been allocated to Corkle province (3), Brakna (7), Trarza (11), Adrar (6), and Nouadhibou (1).
The ministry will start receiving candidate files on Monday, September 23, at the relevant regional directorates, and the application period will end on October 4, 2024.
The selection process will be based on candidates’ experience and previous years of service in the education sector, with preference given to those retiring from the corps of education inspectors secondary.
