Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan: Transforming Healthcare with Ayurveda in Every Household

November 23, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Health

New Delhi: Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav announced the launch of Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan, a national campaign to integrate Ayurveda into every household. Supported by over 4.7 lakh volunteers, this initiative aims to enhance healthcare awareness across India by promoting personalized health practices grounded in Ayurvedic principles.

At a press conference, Jadhav thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the campaign and establishing it as a national movement. He described the initiative as a significant step toward holistic health, expressing confidence in the campaign’s potential to deliver positive health outcomes for the nation.

The campaign focuses on the Ayurvedic principle of Prakriti, which refers to an individual’s unique constitution based on the balance of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas. Understanding one’s Prakriti helps individuals adopt suitable diets, exercise routines, and preventive measures for better physical and mental health.

Backed by research from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the scientific validity of Prakriti is supported by genomic studies. Jadhav noted that this approach aligns with modern principles of predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, and precision medicine. He emphasized that understanding Prakriti can improve overall health and help prevent non-communicable diseases.

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under the Ministry of Ayush implements the campaign. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, the Secretary of the ministry, stressed NCISM’s commitment to making Ayurveda an accessible and practical health tool for everyone.

In addition to raising health awareness, the campaign aims to achieve several Guinness World Records. These include the largest online photo album of Prakriti certificates and the most pledges for a health initiative.

“This campaign is about awareness and action. It aims to blend traditional wisdom with modern science for a healthier India,” Jadhav concluded.

Later, Jadhav spoke to the media about the Mahayuti coalition in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. He estimated that Mahayuti, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, would win between 190-195 seats, possibly exceeding 200 in the 288-member assembly. He expressed confidence in Mahayuti securing a majority.

Jadhav stated, “The results will come tomorrow. Mahayuti will definitely achieve a full majority. Our leaders coordinate well. They will soon decide the Chief Minister.”

He added that there is no competition within Mahayuti regarding leadership positions and emphasized a quick formation of the government before November 27. Jadhav remained loyal to Eknath Shinde amid a split in the Shiv Sena, founded by Balasaheb Thackeray.
