Bungie Acknowledges Demand for Destiny 1 Updates After Price Drop

Bungie has reduced the price of Destiny 1 and its expansions. Fans are now calling for updated versions of the game. The original Destiny launched in September 2014 and received several expansions, including The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron.

This week, Bungie announced a permanent price cut for all Destiny 1 expansions on PlayStation and Xbox. The bundle, “Destiny – The Collection,” is now available for $19.99. This price reduction has sparked discussions about a potential remaster or classic version of the game.

Could a Destiny 1 Remaster Happen?

After the price drop, popular content creator Professor Broman tweeted, “Destiny 1 classic servers when?” Bungie’s Global Community Lead, Dylan Gafner, responded, suggesting that while he acknowledges the community’s interest, there are no promises. He hinted that an updated version with quality-of-life improvements and Destiny 2 features could be a possibility but offered no guarantees.

Gafner’s response excited fans and increased interest in a remaster. However, Bungie recently faced layoffs, impacting over 300 employees. The studio’s current state may complicate the development of a full-scale remaster.

Fans have also expressed interest in a PC port of the original Destiny. There is a community project focused on emulating Destiny on PC, reflecting the game’s lasting influence.

For now, Destiny 1 remains a cherished title for many players. Whether Bungie will officially update or remaster it remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Destiny 2 will receive a mid-season update soon, introducing new content and features.
