Death Toll from Tropical Cyclones Rises to 12
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the death toll from tropical cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito has risen to 12.
Confirmed deaths include three in Central Luzon and two in the Cordillera Administrative Region. Seven additional deaths from Cagayan Valley are still being verified.
Injuries total 14, with 11 confirmed. Injuries include nine in Cordillera and two in Central Luzon. Three other injured individuals are under verification in Cagayan Valley.
Three individuals are missing: two in Central Luzon and one in Cagayan Valley, their statuses are also under verification.
The storms have affected 939,936 families, totaling 3,507,920 people across 6,356 barangays in seven regions. Currently, 84,913 families or 300,953 individuals are sheltered in 2,331 evacuation centers. An additional 36,974 families, amounting to 128,889 people, are receiving aid outside these centers.
Damage reports include 51,921 houses. Of these, 42,822 are partially damaged, while 9,099 are totally damaged. Damage spans several regions: Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, and Cordillera.
Infrastructure and agricultural losses are estimated at PHP 2.03 billion and PHP 29.5 million, respectively.
