Devin Harjes, the actor known for his roles in television series such as Boardwalk Empire and Daredevil, died May 27 in New York City. He was 41. Harjes passed away at Mount Sinai West hospital after being diagnosed with cancer in February.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, on July 29, 1983, Harjes initially had a passion for animals and grew up around horses. He later transitioned to acting, studying in New york and pursuing a career in film. His early work included student films, off-Broadway productions, and independent movies.
Harjes’s television credits include playing Jack Dempsey in Boardwalk Empire, a nurse in Daredevil, and Clyde in Gotham.His most recent role was as Pete Baylor in the series Manifest.
His filmography also includes appearances in Orange Is the New Black, Blue Bloods, FBI, Elementary, Rebel Between Rye, Boyz of Summer, The Forest Is Red, and When the Shadow Falls.

Beyond acting, Harjes was also dedicated to martial arts and physical fitness, according to his obituary on his website. He often joked about feeling safer from a horse kick then other dangers.
