The upcoming “Malcolm in the Middle” reboot on Disney+ will be missing a familiar face. Erik Per Sullivan, known for his portrayal of Dewey, opted out of reprising his role. Bryan Cranston revealed Sullivan is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Harvard University.

Cranston recounted his conversation with Sullivan about the reboot. “I talked to Eric and I said, ‘Hey, we got the show! It’s going to come back.’ He goes, ‘Oh, that’s fantastic!’ And I go, ‘Yeah, so we’re looking forward to having you back.’ He goes, ‘Oh, no, no, I don’t want to do it. But it’s fantastic,'” Cranston said on the fly On The Wall podcast.
Kaczmarek previously noted Sullivan’s disinterest in acting after his seven-year stint on “Malcolm in the Middle.” She mentioned he attends a prestigious university and prefers to keep his academic pursuits private.
