DHL group Invests $575 Million in Middle East Logistics Expansion

DHL Group plans to inject more than $575 million into the Middle East’s rapidly growing markets, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as key targets. The investment, slated for completion by the end of 2030, highlights DHL’s dedication to the region and its importance in global trade. This move aligns with DHL’s Strategy 2030, launched in 2024, which prioritizes growth regions and leverages shifts in global trade patterns to enhance its global logistics network.
The investment aims to strengthen the Middle east’s supply chains across all four DHL divisions: Express, Global Forwarding, Supply Chain, and eCommerce. Thes funds will enhance infrastructure, expand networks, increase capacity, and improve service capabilities in the region. The company provides a wide array of logistics and transportation services, including express parcel delivery, air, ocean, and overland freight, warehousing, customs brokerage, and specialized operations for sectors like life sciences, healthcare, and e-commerce.

He emphasized the region’s increasing strategic importance in connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. Pearson added that DHL Express is witnessing dynamic growth and export potential in the region’s e-commerce sector, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and smaller businesses to expand globally.

Hendrik Venter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain for Europe, Middle East & Africa, stated that DHL Supply Chain has actively expanded in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This expansion recognizes the positive economic progress, the increasing maturity of supply chain operations, and the growing demand for specialized, outsourced logistics support. Venter highlighted a strong focus on the energy sector, life sciences, healthcare, and technology, positioning the company to leverage its contract logistics expertise.
DHL Express will invest in hub and gateway facilities and enhance aviation capacity to improve service efficiency and delivery speed. DHL Global Forwarding plans to expand its regional presence, invest in its fleet (including electric trucks), and pursue joint ventures to enhance connectivity. DHL Supply Chain will expand its contract logistics offering in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia, increasing warehousing capacity, upgrading equipment, and integrating advanced technology.
Amadou Diallo, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Middle East & Africa, emphasized the investment underscores confidence in the Middle East’s economic trajectory and commitment to digital capabilities and sustainable transportation.
