Premier League (PL) Liverpool (England) continued their unbeaten run in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) league stage.

Liverpool ran for 4 straight wins with a 4-0 win in the 4th game of the ‘2024-2025 UCL’ league stage against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Germany) on the 6th (Korean time) at Anfield in Liverpool, England.

Liverpool played tight in the first half against Leverkusen, who won the German Bundesliga undefeated last season. In the 43rd minute of the first half, Mohamed Salah fired a left-footed shot inside the penalty box, but it went straight in front of the goalkeeper. Then, Cody Hakpo also had a chance in extra time, but the goalkeeper saved it, the first half ended 0-0.

Luis Diaz’s goal 15 minutes into the second half leveled the tense game. Diaz received a through pass from Curtis Jones and a chip shot into the net. It was a goal that highlighted the partnership between Jones and Diaz, who broke through the opposition’s defensive line.

Two minutes later, Hakpo headed in Salah’s cross to give Liverpool a 2-0 lead. Leverkusen, in a desperate situation, tried to score by deploying attacking resources such as Jonas Hoffman and Patrik Schick, but could not open Liverpool’s goal.

Instead, Diaz’s key goal in the 38th minute of the second half turned the game completely in Liverpool’s favor. Later, in extra time, Diaz completed a hat trick, sinking Leverkusen 4–0.

Liverpool, who have won all the matches in the UCL League stage and collected 12 points, have taken sole lead in the UCL League stage, beating Aston Villa (9 points, 3 wins), who have not yet played a game.

Liverpool have been in dominant form since losing to Nottingham Forest (England) on September 14, recording 11 wins and 1 draw in 12 games. In the PL, they alone lead with 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss (25 points) and are trying to reclaim the league trophy for the first time in 5 seasons. It is assessed that the appointment of manager Arne Slott as the successor to manager Jurgen Klopp was a godsend.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are scheduled to play the 11th round of PL against Aston Villa on the 10th at 5 am.
