Milanese audiences will have the opportunity to see Rental Family – Nelle Vite degli Altri, starring Brendan Fraser, at the Cinema Beltrade beginning Thursday, February 26th. The film, presented by Barz and Hippo s.n.c. Di Corti Paola Emma & c., will be shown with English and Japanese audio and Italian subtitles.

The film centers on an American actor struggling to find purpose who takes on an unusual job with a Japanese agency specializing in “rental families.” He begins to perform roles for strangers, and as he becomes immersed in the lives of his clients, the lines between performance and reality begin to blur. According to promotional materials, the film explores themes of connection, identity, and the role of fiction in modern life.

Cinema Beltrade, a popular independent cinema in Milan, is located on Via Nino Oxilia, 10. The venue boasts 19.4k followers and is currently the 7th most followed venue in the city. It offers a curated selection of films, including original-language screenings with subtitles, classics, and debut works, often accompanied by Q&A sessions with filmmakers.

The initial screenings of Rental Family are scheduled for Thursday, February 26th at 9:30 PM, Friday, February 27th at 3:10 PM, Saturday, February 28th at 7:30 PM, Sunday, March 1st at 5:30 PM, Monday, March 2nd at 3:10 PM, and Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:00 PM, with a final showing on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:00 PM.

Tickets for the screenings are available through DICE, with prices starting at €6.50. The cinema also sells tickets directly at the box office (cash or Satispay accepted) and allows reservations via email at prenota@cinemabeltrade.net. Ticket prices are tiered: €8.00 for general admission, €6.50 for those over 65, and €5.50 for those under 26. A five-entry pass is also available for €24.00.

Brendan Fraser’s performance in Rental Family is already generating buzz, with early descriptions highlighting it as a “great performance.” The film, a co-production between Japan, the United States, and Italy, is directed by Hikari and also stars Takehiro Hira, Mari Yamamoto, Shannon Gorman, and Akira Emoto. The screenplay is credited to Hikari and Stephen Blahut, with cinematography by Takurô Ishizaka, editing by Alan Baumgarten and Thomas A. Krueger, and music by Jónsi and Alex Somers.

Beyond Rental Family, Cinema Beltrade has a diverse program scheduled for the coming days. On Tuesday, February 24th, the cinema is showing Il filo del ricatto, Hamnet Nel nome del figlio, Due procuratori, Sentimental Value, Twin Peaks – stagione 2 – Ep. 4 e 5, and Indocili 3 – Astrid Ardenti e Diego Fossati. Wednesday, February 25th brings La gioia, another screening of Hamnet Nel nome del figlio, L’agente segreto, Il filo del ricatto, and Immortals, as well as a screening of D’istruzione pubblica with the protagonist in attendance.

Following the initial run of Rental Family, Cinema Beltrade will also host a screening of Orizzonti Ribelli with guest speakers on Monday, March 2nd, and a special event featuring Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot with director Gabriele Mainetti in attendance on Wednesday, March 4th.
