⁣ Updated⁢ May 31, 2025

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team challenged his former personal assistant in court Friday, presenting social media posts where⁤ she praised the hip-hop mogul ‍as a mentor and friend even after the alleged rape.⁢ The defense attorney, brian Steel, questioned the woman, known as “Mia,” about these posts, suggesting they contradicted her claims of a toxic work surroundings.

During the sex trafficking trial‌ in Manhattan, Steel displayed numerous posts to the jury. Mia acknowledged the posts, but testified they were a facade, explaining‌ that “Instagram ⁣was a place to show how ‌great your life was, even if it was not true.”

One post from 2013 celebrated combs’ birthday, featuring a still from a ⁤comedy video. Mia had written, “Shout out to my mentor.‍ Thank you for always letting me give birth to my dreams.” Steel questioned why she would celebrate her “rapist” in this way.

Mia testified that Combs forcibly kissed her in 2009 and later raped her in his Los Angeles home. She is ‌one of‍ three women expected to testify about alleged sexual abuse by Combs. The 55-year-old Combs has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.

Other posts presented by Steel included Mia praising Combs for “continuing to inspire me every ⁤day” and‍ joking about him buying her a latte. She also ‌gave Combs a ⁢scrapbook for his‌ 45th birthday, chronicling his early career.

Steel repeatedly asked Mia why she would promote someone who ‍had “stolen your happiness in ⁣life.” Mia maintained that it was‍ natural to post about the good times, ‌acknowledging that ⁣the “highs were ‍really high and the⁤ lows were really low.” She also admitted to⁤ using terms like “family” and “love” with co-workers,including Combs, even after the alleged assaults.

“Instagram was a place to show how great your life was, even if it was not true,” Mia said.

Former assistant says she can’t work as of Combs trauma

Mia, who worked for‌ Combs from‌ 2009 to 2017, testified that she has been unable to hold a job as ‍leaving due to post-traumatic stress. She described how emails asking “where are you?” triggered her, and how even someone calling her name could cause alarm.

She recounted throwing her phone ‍in terror when Combs’ number‌ appeared after Cassie sued him in November 2023, calling it “so triggering.” Mia received a portion of a settlement after leaving Combs’ employment, but said the majority went to her lawyers, whom she ⁣did not inform about the alleged sexual assaults.

One ‌phone call from combs left a witness ‘terrified’

Mia also testified that one of Combs’ former bodyguards contacted her after ‌Cassie’s lawsuit. She felt “terrified, threatened, scared, nervous” that Combs‌ was using an intermediary to reach her, ‍fearing for her safety.

combs settled with⁢ Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, quickly for $20 million. However,a ‍federal agent testified that Cassie’s lawsuit prompted the criminal investigation leading to Combs’ indictment. Prosecutors have argued that Combs and his associates have contacted potential victims ⁢and witnesses, attempting to influence their testimony.
