Diddy Mistrial Bid Fails as Ex-Girlfriend Testifies
NEW YORK – A judge has denied Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request for a mistrial. The ruling came Tuesday, ahead of the cross-examination of a former girlfriend who testified against the rapper in federal court.
Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the defense’s argument that the prosecution presented false testimony. The motion stemmed from testimony last week by Bryana “Bana” Bongolan, a friend of Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.bongolan claimed Combs dangled her from a 17th-floor balcony in September 2016. Diddy’s legal team alleged inconsistencies in Bongolan’s account, particularly her inability to recall details, including what drugs she had taken at the time.
Combs’ lawyers asserted that both Ventura and Bongolan provided “demonstrably false” evidence regarding the balcony incident. They further claimed the prosecution knowingly used this testimony to introduce inadmissible hearsay, creating a false narrative for the jury.

Subramanian stated that the defense had ample possibility to challenge Bongolan’s credibility during cross-examination. He found no prejudice to an exhibit that aided the defense’s case.
Diddy’s defense team maintained that the issue of perjury could not have been raised before Bongolan’s testimony. They insisted the government was aware her testimony was false.
Prosecutors countered that Bongolan’s testimony could be attributed to confusion, mistakes, or memory lapses. They highlighted her admission that she did not recall all the details.
Following Bongolan’s testimony, another former girlfriend, identified as Jane, took the stand. Testifying under a pseudonym, she described meeting Combs in 2021 and dating him until his arrest in September 2024. Jane alleged she was forced to participate in “hotel nights,” during which she was expected to have sex with other men while Combs watched.

Jane, who was dating Diddy when Cassie’s sexual abuse lawsuit became public, testified that she recognized her own experiences in the lawsuit’s details.
“I was reading these pages, and they felt like a nightmare,” she said, adding that she felt sympathy for Cassie. “I can’t believe I’m reading my own story,” she recalled thinking.
Jane’s testimony spanned from Thursday through Monday, with her cross-examination beginning Tuesday. The Diddy mistrial denial and ex-girlfriend testimony add further complexity to the ongoing Sean Combs federal trial.
